Ausangate Mountain Bike trip

This will be a day to relax and enjoy. On the way to Ausangate we will visit the "7 Colors Mountain" (5000 masl/16404 ft.).

This will be a relaxed 40 minutes walk

Optional: You can go by bike to the base of the mountain of 7 colors. 

The landscape of the 7 colors mountain is fabulous and unique on the planet. It is also the clear example of global warming, because some years ago, this place was covered with snow. 

At the end of the visit, it will be time to get ready to enjoy a mountain bike trail that descends from the 7 color mountain to our campsite. This trail is characterized for being very smooth and flowing, surrounded by amazing landscapes.

**Optional: You can visit the Ausangate Cocha lagoon from this point.

We will spend the night in the house of a local resident, where we will be able to experience some of the activities that he daily carries out, such as: 

• Fishing.
• Shearing alpacas and the use of their wool. 
• Preparing pachamanca (typical food prepared with hot rocks). 
• Rest and see the beauty of the landscapes surrounded by snow-capped mountains.

MTB Trail:

7-colors mountain descent to base camp. 

5% uphill - 10% flat - 85% downhill / 1 hour / 8 km / 5 mi

Overnight in Huchuy Finaya village - Casa de Pobladores (House of Villagers) included

"Ausangate is considered one of the most beautiful trekking destinations in the world" (much more fun to do it by mountain bike).

We will wake up surrounded by mountains and snow-capped peaks, a small stream at the bottom of the ravine will accompany us for the whole journey.

This day the challenge will be to reach the 5000 meters of altitude (16404 feet) of the "Abra Qampa"; we will reach this point pedaling and walking in some parts, although it will be demanding, the landscape of mountains, snowy peaks and multicolored lagoons, will be the great reward during the morning. 

Once we reach the highest point (5100 masl/16732 ft), past noon, we will enjoy a very long and epic mountain bike descent, through very flowing, fast and scenic trails, which pass by different multicolored lagoons along the way. 

Finally, after an amazing day of biking, we will arrive at the thermal baths of Pacchanta (4200 masl/13779 ft), to relax in its mineral hot springs and take a well-deserved rest watching the sunset next to the snow-capped Ausangate.

MTB trail:

Huchuy Finaya village to Pacchanta village. 

40% uphill - 20% flat - 40% downhill / 6-8 hours / 23 km / 14.3 mi

This day we will take the opportunity to explore the surroundings of Ausangate, we will climb to the top of the highest pass (Abra de Qampa) which is located near Pacchanta and we will ride all day looking for the best views of these mountains, we will see many multicolored lagoons, glacial moraines where we can do some freerides and enjoy a picnic in the middle of the mountains.

We will have a full day of exploration in one of the most beautiful areas of Peru, we will do enduro along all the trails that go around lagoons, herds of alpacas, llamas and vicuñas, surrounded by glacial landscapes, arid, loose rock and compact rock trails. An  unforgettable journey !

We will have one more afternoon to enjoy the thermal baths at the base of Ausangate snow-capped mountain, some beers and good food before the last day.

MTB trail:

Pacchanta village - Lagunas Multicolores - Pacchanta village. 

40% uphill - 20% flat - 40% downhill / 6 hours / 20 km / 12.4 mi

Night in Pacchanta village - Casa de Pobladores (Villagers House) included

Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

In the morning we say goodbye to the village of Pacchanta, to head back to Cusco (3300 masl/10826 ft).

On the way we will climb to the top of a mountain, passing the "Abra Cuyuni" (4500 masl), where we will find an overhead radar and from where the name of this famous mountain biking route of the South Valley of Cusco "El Radar" comes from.

This route is characterized by being very long (17km long/10.6 mi) where we will find different types of terrain as we descend. It has many levels of difficulty throughout its route, which starts being very fast and open, to finally end in a thin trail with many curves and vegetation. 

Our tour ends this day and after several days in Ausangate, it is time to say goodbye.

South Valley MTB Trail:
